A Ride Through the Country

On Saturday, Clif and I first went to the infamous Farmer's Market in Madison's town square.  It didn't disappoint.  I bought a fresh crunchy apple, just hand picked corn on the cob, Wisconsin maple syrup, and of course, I couldn't resist fresh made kettle corn to munch on.  I would need the energy for our bike ride through the country side.

We decided to bike a portion of the Badger Trail.  This trail goes from Madison, WI all the way to the Illinois State Line where it continues under another trail name.  We only opted to ride 10 miles down to be able to ride through the tunnel, then return, totaling 20 miles.

We started in Belleville and went to Monticello.  The scenery was beautiful.

Yes, this tunnel was pitch black going through.  It was 1/4 mile long, and because it curved, the light didn't shine through from the other end.  We had to use our headlights.  It was weird getting dripped on from the moisture on the ceiling.  I don't care to know how many bats may have been hanging above my head.  All I can say is what an experience not being able to see 2 feet in front of you for that distance!

In one side, and out the other.

Bathroom break! YES!

The view of an area we went through had a totally different look on the return.  We thought we were going through forest, but, we weren't!

A closer look.

It was just so tranquil.

Once back at camp, we were hungry for some brats, and boy were they yummy! :)
