May 1, 2016, I had the honor of attending my nephew/Godchild's graduation from FGCU. It was in Ft. Myers. The weather was a tad warm and had typical sunny skies for Florida. Mallory (Chris' fiance) knew just where we should sit to get the best pictures of Chris. She nailed it!
Of course it would help if the photographer had a steady hand. Those graduates walk so fast, it was hard to get anything decent. I am sure if you saw Nereida's post, you saw wonderful pictures. But, here are a few of my own to add to our wonderful day and celebration.
All pictures of their procession were blurry, so I hurried to the side steps before the commencement began. Chris is just taking it all in.
We were seated at the back of the arena. Chris is the plain cap in the center of the picture. 2 female hands happen to be atop and below his cap. You can see his blue collar.
Hey, you're going the wrong way! Turn around!
There you go. :)
Again, walking way too fast, the picture of him actually getting his diploma was a complete blur. Not just for me, but I think for ALL of us. I don't think anyone got a good shot of that. But the good news is that I got a video of him leaving! Much easier than trying to take a still frame and risk having a blur again.
Once the graduation was over, we headed to the Art Building to take a look at the Senior projects.
One graduate had a very profound perspective.
There was a trailer outside the Art Building with a loud banging noise. I went inside to have a look. It was a film of a girl throwing dead fish against a clear plastic wall. This video went on for 23 minutes. No I didn't watch it for that long. 1 minute was enough. I looked at Jim and asked, "What is up with this?" He took me inside where I was able to read the above description. Below is the gist of what the entire film looked like. Interesting to say the least.
Chris' project was in the Library. You would have thought it would have been open for those attending graduations, but NO... they decided this was the perfect weekend to start with reduced hours, Monday-Friday only. As we were walking away disappointed, I said to the group (as Jim was looking at other options-emergency exits-to get in), "wouldn't it be nice if a worker would drive up and let us in." Well, God answered that prayer! Because a pickup truck pulls up and a man gets out. I asked if he worked at the University and he said yes. I explained that we had all come from out of town, me, from Orlando, and were very disappointed not to be able to see Chris' Senior project. He escorted us into the closed library, and even took our picture! What a nice gentleman to be an instrument in God's family!
Up close to get a better look at the art designs in nature.
Congratulations Chris. I am VERY proud of you!
