Early Birthday Celebration

Stephen, Amber and Levi will be in New York for Levi's 2nd Birthday.  We had our celebration a week early.
He is SO excited, he doesn't know what to do!!!

The ice cream cake is delicious!

Opening presents was the hit of the evening.

Originally, he didn't want to have anything to do with the birthday card, but once he saw it wasn't a typical card, it become his favorite of all.

A weekend in Clearwater

One more trip this summer, and  was able to visit all my siblings!  Off to Clearwater I went, and a special surprise was that my nephew John and his family were vacationing on St. Pete beach.  They joined us for dinner Friday night!
I was so excited to see them!

Kate, Robin, Paige, and John

On Saturday, Vicky and I went for a 13 mile round trip bike ride from McMullen Tennis Complex in Clearwater to Philippe Park in Safety Harbor. It was a beautiful ride.

We passed through many county parks.

I liked the fact that they have stations along the way to either fill the water bottles, or pump air in the tires.

Our view of the bay while eating our picnic lunch at Philippe Park.

Pictures of sights along the return.

Notice the dark clouds in the distance.
Yes, Vicky and I rode in a downpour.
We welcomed the cool rain and were
grateful it wasn't lightning.

Last picture I was able to get as the rain became torrential!

Vicky called Barbara when we were 10 minutes from the truck.
She brought us lots of towels to dry off with and sit on so we wouldn't saturate Clif's cloth seats!
We were a couple of drowned rats.

On Sunday, after an early morning Mass we decided to walk from
North Clearwater Beach to Caladesi Island.
It is about 3-3 1/2 miles each way.
We looked refreshed and ready to go.

On this walk, we also got caught in a rain shower.
Prior to this picture, we had sought refuge under an alcove at one of the 4 remaining beach homes before reaching Caladesi.
You know you are close when you get to the Mangroves with shells on them.  I guess this is how people mark that
they have made the hike.

In the background is the rain cloud that passed over us while
we huddled underneath the alcove at the house.

We were gone for just over 2 1/2 hours.  Vicky's gps said we went just over 6 1/2 miles, yet Barbara's said we went a smidge over 7.
Why the discrepancy?  I don't know. All I know is that my bottle of water wasn't enough.  Vicky treated us to Frenchy's when we got back and I drank a glass of lemonade and 2 glasses of water before I felt I was rehydrated. We had a great time.

Happy Girl!

Michael sent this picture of Judith.

She's definitely a happy girl!

Father's Day Weekend Adventures

Celebrations for Father's Day weekend started Friday
with a trip to the Orlando Science Center.
I haven't been since the kids were little.  Stephen and Amber have a membership and have asked numerous times for me to join them throughout the school year.  Being I am off for the summer, I jumped at the opportunity to go.  Boy has it changed since the kids were little!  We stayed 4 hours and still didn't see everything.

We are building a rocket.

On Sunday, Amber treated us to Fantasy of Flight.

Levi had fun riding the Red Baron.

They had lots of cockpits that we could explore.
Everyone got in on the action!

Still a kid at heart.

Admiring Daddy.

Action with Grandpa.

The BIG kid!

Entertaining Grandma.

Pilot wanna be.

So much to explore.

They even had little planes on display that had pedals.
Levi wanted to try one.
Unfortunately, they are for display purposes only.

They had mini movies to watch.

And, many planes to see.

Although the main attraction from Fantasy of Flight closed a couple years ago, they kept a small area that they open on special occasions to the public.  All planes in the hanger the owner still flies.  We found out today that they are in the process of upgrading the facility so that in 3-5 years they will open with many bells and whistles.  We are looking forward to their new additions.  Hopefully it will be profitable for them.
Thanks Amber, we thoroughly enjoyed our day.

And lastly, missing terribly....
Dad (Grandpa).
